Slash and Scroll is seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources (HR) Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and be highly self-motivated. The HR Assistant will report to the Director of Human Resources and will be responsible for providing support in all areas of employee relations, recruitment, payroll, and benefits administration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the HR team including filing documents, preparing letters and memos, and sending emails.
- Assist with onboarding new employees by creating personnel files, updating employee information in the system, answering questions about employee benefits, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Work closely with the recruitment team to post jobs, screen resumes and applications, conduct preliminary interviews, schedule follow-up interviews, and coordinate drug testing.
- Assist in payroll activities such as verifying hours worked and calculating vacation pay and overtime.
- Respond to employee questions regarding policies, procedures, benefits, etc., both over the phone and in person.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, forms, and other documents as needed.
- Maintain employee records in a secure system to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor attendance and leave of absence requests for the organization.
- Assist with performance management activities including preparing performance review forms and conducting exit interviews.
- Participate in special projects such as employee engagement initiatives, benefits surveys, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 1+ years of HR experience; previous experience in recruitment is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and other related software programs
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to keep accurate records and ensure compliance with HR regulations.
